AMIS is a software program designed to read DAISY books. It is self-voicing, meaning that no specialized screen-reading software is needed in order for it to be used by visually impaired people. Since AMIS does not have an embedded synthesizer, the supported languages are defined by the user SAPI 5 already installed synthesizer. Types of DAISY books supported by AMIS are: DAISY 2.02, DAISY/NISO 2005, Multivolume (DAISY 2.02), Full text + full audio, Audio + NCX and Text-only.

Operating system: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8

Installation: First download and extract the archive and then run the Setup-amis30-rc1-U.S.English.exe file.

Settings: Users can open DAISY files from the corresponding command in the File menu and then start the audio rendering of the content by pressing Play/Pause. Speech Synthesizer settings can be found at the Preferences menu.

Download internal: Setup-amis-U.S.English.exe (12.01 MB)

The program was upgraded from version 3.0 to version 3.1.3. There is also a beta version (3.1.4) of the program available on the "Download external" site.

It is good but it would be useful to be navigate to a place by selecting it in the left screen and not start playing automatically
