Within the framework of the Project, the Accessibility Unit of the NKUA offers an integrated system of services to support the university’s undergraduate students with disabilities (SwD); the objective is to increase their timely graduation rates. This system of services includes the following:
- SwD’s Needs Recording and Abilities Assessment Service
- SwD’s Transportation Service
- Accessible Textbooks Production Service for SwD
- Video-relay Service for Greek Sign Language Interpretation
- Accessibility Support Voluntary Service
- Accessibility Advisor Professors support service
- Accommodations in the Exams for SwD Service
- Accessible Workstations in the Libraries Support Service
- Administrative Staff responsible for SwD Support Service.
Undergraduate students with disability (SwD) studying in a Department/Faculty of the NKUA in Athens or on the Euripus Campus can benefit from this project, as long as they belong in one of the following categories:
Students with blindness, Students with vision loss (or with low vision), Students with movement disability (lower limb disability), Students with upper limb disability (dexterity impairment), Students who are deaf, Hard of hearing students, Students with learning difficulties (dyslexia, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, pervasive neurodevelopmental disorders – Asperger syndrome). The aim of the project is to increase the timely graduation rates and enable the co-equal participation of persons with disabilities in tertiary education through the optimization of supporting structures.
