Built Environment Accessibility

The service of Accessibility in Built Environment includes the following:

  • Ensuring accessibility standards for the new buildings of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
  • Modifications to the existing buildings to make them accessible (installation of ramps, lifts, handrails, accessible toilets, special signs for visually impaired people, low wall-mounted payphones and water coolers, car parking places for Persons with Disabilities).
  • Sound signals installation on the traffic lights and walkways on the sidewalks around the buildings of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for the visually impaired.

The Department of Technical Services of NKUA has the responsibility for the built environment accessibility.
