Who is eligible

Students of the NKUA can receive the services offered by the Accessibility Unit as long as they have a diagnosis certificate issued by an official/state entity or healthcare provider for:

  • sensory disability,
  • motor disability,
  • learning disability/dyslexia,
  • pervasive neurodevelopmental disorders / autism / Asperger,
  • severe disease,
  • severe psychosocial problems.

You may view the whole set of diseases in the coding table used in NKUA "Codes for disabilities, serious illnesses, learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders."

Individual cases with a disability rate of more than 67% not described in the above list, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The student, as a self-represented adult, communicates by himself with the Accessibility Unit by telephone, electronically, online or through the Relay Service for students with a verbal communication deficit, remotely or in person. Parents and guardians or other individuals do not contact the Accessibility Unit on behalf of the student, except in cases where another legal representative has been appointed for the student with a disability/special educational needs.

If the student is supported by professionals outside of NKUA, the Accessibility Unit will only contact them if the student has given written permission during their registration.
